The most time intensive part of producing a trade show, seminar, or
special event is managing the attendees database. This might include
sending invitations, registering RSVP's, collecting registration fees,
mail merging letters and Thank You cards, and a variety of other jobs.

Let's look at two examples: A training seminar and a Wedding.
You want to provide a seminar for up to 300 people, training them on
the use of your product. They will need to RSVP and pay a $50 registration
fee. After registering, you would like them to receive a confirmation
letter as a receipt. When they arrive at the seminar, you would like
their names to appear on a registrant list, and a pre-printed name tag,
customized with your logo, waiting for them. After the seminar, you
would like to send a "Thank You" letter to each of the attendees
(only those who actually came to the seminar), and include some kind
of coupon for future business.
